This illustration depicts a sample electrical system for sailing vessels and powerboats with one engine, where the entire AC power system is powered by I-Panda inverter/charger. Our inverter/chargers wire into a boat’s existing electrical system. They connect directly to the battery bank so the inverter or charger can draw power or recharge batteries as needed. The length of time the inverter/charger can supply AC power depends on the size of the battery bank and the number of loads drawing power.
In this example, the inverter/charger recharges the battery banks by converting a portion of incoming shore power to DC power. The rest of the incoming AC power is passed on to loads connected to electrical circuits powered by the inverter. When shore power is disconnected, the inverter/charger inverts power from the battery banks to provide power to connected appliances. This means the inverter/charger draws 12-volt DC power from the battery banks and inverts it into 120-volt AC. An internal transfer switch senses whether power shore power is present, allowing the unit to instantly switch from charge mode to invert mode when power is disconnected. I-Panda inverters take stored battery power and silently convert it to AC power eliminating the need of installing and maintaining noisy generators as a mobile AC power source.
The following pitures illustrations depict a I-Panda inverter/charger installed on a typical heavy duty truck or utility/work truck. The inverter/charger takes stored battery power and converts it to AC power to run appliances like TVs and coffee makers located in the sleeper cab. Inverting power from a battery bank is a quiet and environmentally friendly alternative to idle the engine to supply power to the cab. When the truck is supplied with external AC power, at a truck stop for example, the inverter/charger takes the incoming power and recharges the batteries back to full capacity.
Excess power is supplied to the cab to run appliances. If no external AC power is available, the inverter/charger will draw 12-volt DC power from the battery banks and invert it into 120-volt AC. An internal transfer switch senses whether external AC power is present, allowing the unit to instantly switch from charge mode to invert mode when power is disconnected.
